Beach Classes & SUP Tasters to get you started with SUP
An introductory SUP session is an excellent way to become more proficient on your SUP. You will learn the basic techniques for handling open water locations safely.
Our Level 2 instructors will be happy to answer any questions you have on and off the water. Meet us at The Surf Shack and we will get you ready in your suit and vest. Make your way out with your instructor and enjoy what Curracloe has to offer from the water. We also have a staff member on the beach who will keep an eye during rental or SUP taster and is always happy to give you some help throughout.
SUP LESSON
- Includes Board, Paddle, Buoyancy Vest.
- We teach you the skills you need to paddle and control the SUP correctly and safely in the sea.
- We show you correct techniques for paddling, stance, turning, self rescue, hazard identification, and how to safely use a SUP for life.
- Everything is done in safe water until you are competent enough to paddle more.
- SUP is subject to conditions and we do not run if its very windy. also… the surf is usually good then!
Other options - SUP Tasters
SUP Tasters are an excellent way to dip your toe. Just €15 for 30 mins this includes all the gear, a short instruction and 20 mins on the water with an instructor. Great craic and you don’t need a wetsuit (one is available if your prefer). Max 4 people this taster sessions run at weekends from the beach at Curralcoe when the conditions are calm. You meet us at the waters edge and we do the rest. Enjoy.
other options - Sunrise SUP €65pp
This is our flagship activity. It seldom operates and when it does it is an early start. A truly special encounter with the rising sun as you stand on the abyss in total silence. Everyone should do this once in their life. Photography and French Press Coffee included in the experience.
Private SUP tours & adventures are available & we can run the ASI SUP Wise program for interested parties. Please get in touch to chat to us about one of these for yourself or group.
Just swimwear and a towel.
Curracloe’s surf is perfect for beginners so we will have you riding your first wave in no time. It is safe to swim at all tides. Saving Private Ryan was also shot on these sands.
Private group surfs are available to book online or you can give us a call and tailor your Shack experience. Excellent for families, couples and group outings like hens and stags. We can run your very own time slot for Private sessions too
