The Surf Shack
Established in summer 2013 with just a handful of surfboards & wetsuits, the Surf Shack was opened on June 29th by Curracloe native Jack-Tim & his best friend Alice (who eventually became husband and wife). Looking to combine a love for surfing with their teaching and coaching skills the aim was to show people what they have on their doorstep.
The Surf Shack exists to create a welcoming surf community in Co. Wexford where every person feels supported, confident, and excited to get in the water. We believe surfing should be fun, accessible, and unforgettable, and we are dedicated to delivering great coaching, great gear, and amazing experiences that keep people coming back for more.
Jack-Tim
Local to Curracloe Beach I grew up beside the sea. Having always skateboarded as a kid surfing was a natural progression for me.
I started the surf shack in 2013 with my now wife Alice. We wanted to spend the summer on the beach instead of getting “a real job” but we never thought it would become our lives.
On behalf of myself and all the team at The Shack we are eager to greet you this year and get you out in the water having fun
Our approach to surfing is all about fun. We make every session personal by getting to know you and making sure your needs are met. We are qualified coaches and passionate about surfing.
Surf School
Learn to surf in a fully approved and insured ASI surf school. We operate daily public classes, summer kids camps, family lessons, group outings & private 1-1 coaching sessions. All our instructors are experienced surfers and excellent coaches committed to showing you the best time possible. Learning to surf with the Shack is really safe and super fun so it is open to everyone no matter your ability.
When the waves are not in town, you can try other activities like Stand Up Paddle (SUP) adventures that meet the sunrise in Curracloe. SUP is also available everyday on Curracloe Beach as long as conditions allow. Book online and have your board and paddle waiting for you at the water edge. You will be supervised by a surf lifeguard at all times during your tour or rental.

Beach Facilities
Although our school only offers outdoor changing, Failte Ireland have built a top class changing facility with hot showers and changing space just steps from our school.
